Light, openness and connected living was the brief that an excellent London-based architect set out to deliver in this family home.

The key focal point of the family kitchen / dining area was “wraparound” structural glazing, where vertical and roof glazing meets at a frameless, silicon-sealed glass to glass corner. This bespoke configuration, with the roof section 4.6 metres long, brings light and a feeling of openness deep into the house, and creates a superb centrepoint for the area.

In the family area at the opposite end of the split-level extension, a bifold moving corner perfectly links the family room to the garden. A moving corner ensures that when both sets of bifold doors are opened, there’s no structural corner post obscuring the view.

Between the bifolds and structural glazing, 2 sets of Heritage-style French doors add a traditional element to the extension.
